The dial features Ottoman horsemen in a stunning marquetry pattern of gold and mother-of-pearl, blending beautifully together. This ancient technique has been used since the time of the Egyptians, and in the Middle Ages, it was popularized by Venetian and Byzantine luxury objects. The marquetry artist carefully pieces together the horsemen using two opposing materials
