Glashütte Original is known for their top-of-the-line mechanical observation watches, inspired by the legacy of Julius Assmann. Their limited edition Senator Observer 1911 in white gold honored both Assmann and the great explorer Roald Amundsen. Later, a stainless steel version with a sleek silver-grained dial was released at Baselworld. Assmann's handmade observation watches were renowned for their precision and reliability, making them essential for navigation officers, pilots, and adventurers like Amundsen. In 1910, Amundsen purchased a Glashütte pocket watch from the German Naval Institute in Hamburg, which he took with him on his historic journey to the South Pole. Various references of the Senator Observer 1911 are available
